Summary: When Percy arrives at Goode High School, he is unlucky to run into Rachel Elizabeth Dare. Rachel is a mortal who can see through the Mist, and she immediately recognizes the Head Cheerleaders - Kelli and Tammi - as empousai. When the cheerleaders corner Percy and Rachel in the band room, Percy kills Tammi and is about to destroy Kelli. Unfortunately, Paul Blofis and the school administrators walk into the room at that moment and Kelli disappears, framing Percy as a murderer. Percy and Rachel run into Annabeth outside of the building, and Rachel gives Percy her phone number with the order to call and explain about Half-bloods. Annabeth is angry at Percy for reasons she won't explain, and the two of them quickly leave for Camp Half-Blood.
