Characters: Percy Jackson, Lee Fletcher, Chiron, Quintus, Tyson, Grover, Annabeth, Clarisse, Chris Rodriguez, Blackjack, Mrs. O'Leary, Juniper, the Giant Scorpions,

Summary: At breakfast the next day, Grover sits next to Percy ,and Annabeth breaks camp rules to talk to both of them. According to her research, Grover may be able to find Pan through the Labyrinth, a maze of tunnels that have been growing underneath Western Civilization and lead nearly everywhere. Annabeth tells Percy to convince Grover to consider a quest, then leaves for her own table before she can get in trouble. After dinner, the campers are assigned teams to play Capture the Flag. Percy and Annabeth are partners, but even they can't fight off the three gigantic scorpions that try to attack. Annabeth falls down into a pit when trying to squeeze between two rocks, and Percy falls after her, both of them landing in a dark corridor. They climb back out a few minutes later to learn that an hour has passed. Clarisse realizes that they have discovered an entrance to the Labyrinth.

Excerpt:
-->"Got it!" she said with relief. She set her hand on the wall and pressed against a tiny fissure, which began to glow blue. A Greek symbol appeared: the Ancient Greek Delta.
