Host: Folks hello and welcome to Athens in Greece. We’re joined by key four cast here today. Welcome guys! Welcome also to those of you watching from around the world. There is an insane number of people logged in. We got people from France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Australia, Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela and I know I’ve just offended half the territories by not listing you but we know you're out there and we’re going to get some questions from you in a moment but first guys, is it the first time in Greece for you?
Cast: Yeah.
Alex: I’ve been here before.
Host: You're searching for your parent, no doubt.
Alex: Yes.
[laugh]
Alex: I was here three years ago with a friend.
Host: What do you think of it?
Brandon: It was beautiful.
Logan: It was gorgeous.
Host: No, out here with the Acropolis, so we put in especially for you.
Jake: I had breakfast with this xxx this morning.
Host: Well, it’s right outside your.
Alex: Yes.
Jake: It’s beautiful
Logan: I mean we just got in last night, so we really haven’t much time to see the city yet.
Brandon: It’s big out there though. I heard the view look, like we look like ants compared to the pillars, so it’s really cool. It was like…
Host: Well, let’s jump into and talk a little bit about the movie. Most of the guys watching and have seen the movie, they know a little bit about it so I don’t need to waste your time running through you know characters and all the rest of it because there’s so many questions coming in. We’re starting by going to China first and our friends at xxxx in China who want to know that you’ve all done roles before. You’ve all worked in different characters but this time you stepped up to the plate as lead actors. Was that much of a growth and much of a step a step for you? Alex, ladies first, let’s start with you.
Alex: Absolutely. I mean I think that everything that you do in your career is leading up to something bigger and I think everything I’ve done before this has sort of preparing me for this sort of life changing and awesome role.
Host: What about you Jake, playing Luke.
Jake: I think it helps when you’re surrounded by such a great cast. So many of that daunting task is kind of minimized and your job becomes a lot easier when you’re working with guys like this.
Logan: Thank you.
Brandon: That’s very nice.
Alex: Yes.
Host: Brandon, presumably for you, you didn’t realize your first big league role was going to be having such hairy legs.
Brandon: Oh yeah. Well, you know, it’s more about I guess the roles are always good but it’s about, like you said, working with a great cast at the same time. Like some of us work with other actors before that’s kind prepared us for stuff like this but at the same time we’re still new. We’re still going and trying to do the best job we can do you know what I’m saying.
Host: Logan, Cinema Online in Malaysia have a question for you which strictly speaking we probably ought to be addressed in Chris Columbus which is what are the qualities you think made the filmmakers hire you as Percy Jackson? Was it the sword play? What was it?
Logan: I’m not sure actually. I think from my knowledge I think Chris saw a movie that I did and had this idea and he wanted me to play Percy, I think. I don’t want to speak for him but yeah so far it was cool. No, but I guess Chris, when we met we just hit it off and, yeah it was history from there.
Host: So it wasn’t your aquatic abilities. Are you much of a swimmer?
Logan: No, I’m probably the most unathletic of all of us. I really had to train for like a long time before hand just to look like I know what I’m doing with the sword or be able to run.
Host: It worked for me. Alex, you're playing Athena.
Alex: The daughter of Athena.
Host: I’m so sorry but you could play Athena because you are very wise yourself, a Goddess of Wisdom, and our friends in Korea want to know if you have the abilities of your character in the film what might make things easier for you in real life?
Alex: I guess it’s always good to have battle skills and be tough and can fight people off, I don’t know.
Jake: Because you never know when you're going to get into a sword fight
Alex: Yes, you never know.
Brandon: Play around swords.
Jake: Every time.
Brandon: If you got a shoe and a sword and you're in the street that doesn’t work.
Logan: Yeah, and that inherited wisdom in battle strategy.
Host: Then Luke, you are playing the son of Hermes, the messenger of God, you got this fantastic winged shoes, any applications for real life?
Jake: Oh absolutely. Air travel, I mean a lot less in plane tickets, I mean I think it’s every child’s dream at some point is to be able to fly and we have to do it.
Host: Brandon, another question for you.
Brandon: What’s up man.
Host: Another question from our Korean viewers. This whole half man, half goat thing, how did that work out for you? As an actor how did you….
Brandon: It was cool because I got a chance to first of all they way they did it, I wear tights and they put markers on the tights on wherever my legs move, so it was cool because we have to create a way that I can have hind legs and I had this walk on my tippy toes the whole time, so I’m in ballet shoes in the middle of the like we’re in the forest or wherever, in the mud and we’re just going and I’m like pretty much like in socks and if I didn’t walk on my tippy toes they will always yell at me and go ‘Make you should walk in your tippy toes.” because it doesn’t create the effect of bouncing, so it was really cool though.
Logan: Slippery too, I mean you know you’d be falling in the mud, that was terrible.
Host: So okay, tough for you but then presumably a bit of a stretch for you guys as actors as well to see him in his final incarnation.
Logan: That was cool.
Brandon: I like it.
Jake: He had a pair pants on, I just absolutely couldn’t believe it.
Logan: It takes a lot of confidence. Brandon would have to be walking around, you’re not like little hopping thing and nobody really knows what he’s going to look like except for him and the visual effects artist.
Brandon: And you got girls on the set and you know. You’re looking like a xxxx you got this tights on but later on.
Logan: Well, you’re doing like I was walking around the house like that.
Host: Now listen I’m checking my blackberry not because I’ve lost all interest but because questions are coming in and a lot of questions about whether if Percy Jackson comes as big as Harry Potter. Are you guys prepared for that kind of level?
Logan: Yeah, I mean you know do we want the movie to be as successful as Harry Potter, yeah sure. Do we want it to be as loved? Yeah but they’re different movies. This is Greek mythology and that’s wizardry. They’re completely different grounds these films but popularity wise yeah we want it to be just as popular.
Brandon: And the best thing is we just try to make the best film and we want to make this entertainment. We want to make a great film for you guys, so hopefully they like it because we worked very hard on it.
Host: Lots of people are asking if Logan will set up a twitter account. Are you twittering? Are you twitting Logan?
Logan: You know if I have anything interesting to say I’ll do it, but I can’t imagine you know twittering all day.
Brandon: I twitter.
Logan: Yeah he does, but he’s a comedian. He’s got all this things and stuff.
Brandon: I like twittering because the only reason why because it’s not just about being a comedian, it’s the source of information today. At first I’m like, “I’m not twittering. Forget that.” But it’s like ok now I’m seeing you can do things like. I’m seeing you can do things, like I found out about Haiti from twitter. I was working and I was like, ‘Oh, whoa, this is going on.” so it’s more of a source of news for me too, so I give out my twitter to..
Host: Please do. I’m sure that they’ll glad to know.
Brandon: It’s Brandon T. Jackson. If anybody wants to twitter me around the world and I’ll just happy to
Host: Brandon T. Jackson, you heard it here. You guys all seemed to get along quite well. How was it working on set? Fun, playing pranks on each other, how did that work out?
Logan: I would say we played pranks on each other but we just have a good time. You know there would always be a guitar around or we just be doing the xxxx and stuff like that.
Alex: A lot of jam sessions.
Logan: A lot of jam sessions.
Jake: Plus a lot of injuries, getting bruised together.
Logan: Oh yeah, a lot of fun and action and all that.
Jake: You kind of get bonded through your training and pre production, just in sword word and...
Brandon: He was really good too.
Logan: Yeah, he was the guy.
Brandon: He was the villain.
Alex: He was intimidating.
Logan: But yeah, there’s that trust you know, Jake was talking about it, one of the other interviews we’ve done that you need that trust when you're fighting each other and seeing that you're going to be there and you're going to be able to block it and hit the timing so it kind of also builds that trust and real life to brotherhood. Host: It has interests me, the questions you’ve had so far have been from the far east and it was a bit more awake than the rest of us are here but back in States, thank you for those of you joining us for a ride and staying up late, but there where they don’t perhaps have such knowledge of Greek mythology or perhaps the books sound familiar. So what is it about the story that you know, do you need to read the books to have enjoyed this film?
Logan: No, it’s a ride, this movie. Yeah, I don’t think you need to really read the book to understand the plotline especially because this is the first movie, it kind of explains everything for itself.
Host: Did you read the books before you know the stories?
Brandon: Yeah, we don’t read it before. We all read after the script.
Alex: I read it before I read the script.
Host: Well, she came to Greece, she read the books.
[laugh]
Alex: No, it’s because I actually wasn’t allowed to read the script, so I wanted to get a sense of what the movie was going to be and I loved it. I fell in love with the book. Yeah it was top secret.
Logan: The script was really top secret.
Alex: Yeah, it was top secret.
Logan: They kept it all under wraps.
Luke: Page has your name water marked on it and then
Brandon: If you lose it you're in trouble.
Logan: Yeah.
Host: That’s scary. Somebody here sent an email to say, for you Alex, what is it like to be so close behind you there’s the famous temple of Athena. That’s your Mom up there.
Alex: Oh, it’s great. I’ve actually been up there before. I was here three years ago. It’s beautiful. It’s amazing.
Host: You guys have just landed and of course Logan you're saying you haven’t had a chance you're going to get a chance to look around and visit some of the sites, get in touch with your Dads and your Moms.
Logan: Yeah we want to.
Brandon: If I go to a club out here I guess the music is called bookie or if I’m not mistaken it’s called …..
Host: Bazuki maybe.
Brandon: Bazuzike. Thank you. I love different music. I love exploring different cultures, so if we had time definitely I want to see some of the sites and take in like the music and everything.
Host: Fortunately now, you started the music is all but a Greek in my head. I wouldn’t be able to hear or think of anything else for….
Logan: I forgot my camera. I wished I brought it.
Brandon: I got mine.
Alex: Yeah. I’ll put them on this twitter.
Host: A lot of action in the movie for all of you guys. What was your favorite stunt in the movie?
Brandon: I’ll let you guys go first.
Luke: We have a really great fight scene that lasted, I filmed it for like a month and I think that’s not too far off. A lot of wire work and with the shoes, fighting with the shoes and fighting in the air, so it was one long stunts but it was definitely the most worth it till the final product was…..
Logan: It was a lot of fun with all the wires and all that.
Host: A lot of work around. You’re learning how to be half man and half goat, you got to withstand a lot of sword fighting.
Brandon: The thing is these guys were so lucky too to working to swords, I mean I like working with the crunches they gave, they cut a lot of the fights out that we did, only as far as the casino scene but we got to all like train and I had a real excellent method where we can fight with the crunches and different things. Everyone has their own kind of weapon and of course this guys has the water, I mean you can’t.
Host: Not a man to mess with.
Brandon: Yeah, can’t mess with the xxxx
Host: A lot of people here want to know about your favorite xxxxx
Logan: There’s a paparazzi guy right over there.
Host: We’re being joined by some of the paparazzi and this stuff is probably what they meant by the Harry Potter phenomenon starting. This is the end of your private life. Lots of fans around the world want to know if you have a favorite soccer team. Into soccer, guys?
Logan: No.
Luke: Well I play Fifa. I play as Wayne Rooney all the time from Manchester United.
Host: You have a certain likeness. Perhaps you could be mistaken, no I don’t think so. You need to lose a bit of hair for that.
Logan: I just say basketball is my sport of choice. Yeah, I love basketball.
Brandon: Basketball is my favorite sport.
Alex: Football, which I think is called American football. Big Giant’s fan.
Host: Alright, so we need to get you going broad to get you a bit more into soccer, The World Cup.
Brandon: Please because in the states they don’t promote soccer like they do or football like they do now. I’m always been into it but it’s like they don’t promote it. It’s not like.
Logan: Yeah, I never really see it anywhere in L.A.
Luke: I grew up on it. My brother played it since he was a little kid all the way to college, like my whole life has been surrounded by it.
Brandon: You guys make it look so cool out here. In America they don’t do it. They don’t make it that cool but out here you got guys flipping and kicking at soccer balls, sweating and it looks like a cool sport.
Luke: They don’t get really cool haircuts.
Brandon: Get cool haircut, they got slow mo shots. They didn’t promote it like that in xxx
Host: Well, xxx or a bit of hair gel I think.
[laugh]
Host: We were talking a bit about the actions but of course for you guys particularly, a lot stunt sequence and a lot of sword sequences particularly between you two. Hard work, how did you prepare for those?
Alex: They had like months of training and I had about three weeks of training. I was cast a little bit late and just training through filming and working really hard and great stunt team.
Logan: We didn’t really have any time off when worked on it. Even if we have any time off we’re just be learning the steps for our new fight and all that, so we just worked really hard to make sure that they look good and everything.
Host: And of course not just actions, a lot of special effects, a lot of green screen and sound, now you’ve done, the whole movie is finished and you got the chance here, what are your favorite creatures?
Brandon: Hydra, I love Hydra
Alex: Medusa
Brandon: That’s my favorite.
Logan: The Minotar, like all of them, they’re really well done.
Luke: Even the Hades when they comes up in the fight
Alex: Yeah, scary.
Logan: That is really cool. I like that one.
Bryan: I just like Hydra because you see the legs.
Luke: The formation of the true intricate.
Brandon: Yeah, the way it comes out, it forms, the detail.
Host: That’s a good choice because we’re going to finish this in a couple of minutes with an exclusive clip and is the Hydra scene.
Alex: Oh great.
Brandon: Cool.
Host: That’s a top choice Brandon. Not that your other choice is xxx
Brandon: I don’t want to do that.
Logan: I mean there’s a lot to see in this movie, so everybody can have like their own favorite. The Hydra is pretty awesome.
Host: I don’t want to over stress the Harry Potter connection. This film will leave and breath in the same but of course we do have one big connection which is your director. Tell me about working with Chris Columbus.
Logan: It’s a dream, you know. It’s really what attracted me to the project in the first place. Just being able to work with him, he’s shaped my childhood so much with like Home Alone and Harry Potter Films. I just wanted to be a part of another Chris Columbus creation.
Brandon: And the best thing about Chris, he’s very good at collaborating. He’s not a director that dictates, “you do this” and that’s all you can do. He’s really good at just like saying, “Both of us, we can make all make art together.” It’s not just like he dictates to us.. He’s very cool. He makes you feel like you're there. He’s yelling out things and he gets you to use your imagination, so he’s really cool.
Host: I’m always impressed with a film of this size, after you see the director at all because it’s an army he has to control. You guys are lucky.
Logan: To tell you the truth is we didn’t really see him much at set, he was just working around the clock. He puts so much time and so much effort in making this movie great and he did a great job with it.
Host: It’s a strange time for you now because movies is all done, the world is about to see it. What are you most proud about it?
Logan: It’s just the movie as a whole. We work really hard to make this a film, not just a movie about anyone person being bigger than the story line or about puckering your lips and looking good. It’s about characters and at the whole story line and we made a film.
Brandon: And the best thing about this film. You got to look at it and say, “Everyone can see and enjoy it.” We didn’t make a corny film that people don’t like. I think it’s one of those situations. It is a PG movie, so it can play anywhere around the world and everyone can enjoy it because it’s hard to do that, to get parents, teenagers and kids to enjoy one movie. That’s a very xxxx, and it’s kudos to Chris for that because it’s definitely art.
Host: Well listen, we could go on for hours, my blackberry is melting. I’m going to send it to the repair shop now. Guys, thank you very much for joining us. Thank you all out there for joining us as well. The movie itself opens on February 12th in the United States and will be going worldwide from thereon in. Also don’t forget the music sound track which you can download from February 8 on Digital Music Sites, and that will also be available on CD in the US. Well, I promise that we finish with an exclusive clip from the movie. Here it is. It is the Hydra scene as we heard. Thank you to you guys. Thank you to you all for logging in. Enjoy the clip.
