At the Borders' Event

I know this is a little late but here is the article I promised on my trip to meet the cast! Needless to say it was AMAZING! I got there and waited for the cast to get there. While I was waiting I found the people running the interview portion of the event and told him about PercyQuest and how the fans had some questions they would like the cast to answer. I gave him the list of questions and the entire interview was made up of those questions! I was amazed! I never expected that! And every time he read a question he mentions the site! So hundreds of Percy fans heard about PercyQuest. The questions were,

1. What was your biggest blooper? (Lerman) My biggest blooper was at the beginning in the capture the flag scene. I had just beaten everyone and I was walking away really dramatically after then I fell! The producer actually put that into the movie!

2. What was your favorite scene? (Jackson) Well, mine was the Hydra.

3. If you were a demigod who would you want your parent to be? (Daddario) Athena.

4. What did you think of the movie when you saw it? (all) Amazing, incredible.

Now I paraphrased the answers but you get the idea. If you heard about PercyQuest from the interview, or just heard it mentioned please let me know! Everyone was so excited, yelling and screaming and fainting (just kidding, I don't think anyone fainted). The fans were all pushing and shoving to get to the front of the crowd to get a picture of the cast, and I was right there with them! I got some pretty good pictures of Alexandra and Logan but no really good ones of Brandon. While waiting in line I started talking with some of the other fans. When I asked them about the cast most of them said, Logan was cute, Alexandria was sweet, and Brandon was funny. Then I asked one boy what he thought the movie was going to be like and he said amazing even though it wasn't like the book. Another girl said that she thought that it was going to be awful but she was going anyways because she was a loyal Percy fan.

Then there was the party. Although it was advertised to be fun for everyone it was really geared towards the younger fans. Also I wasn't very involved in the party because you could only participate if you were one of the first 100 people there (which I was not), and because it was directed to the younger kids. For example the discus contest was throwing around paper plates with your name on it and the trivia was really basic stuff that pretty much that every Percy fan knows.

The next part of the event was meeting the cast. That was amazing even though there were about 400 people ahead of me it gave me time to talk to other fans and get more pictures of the cast. Everyone was generally excited with the occasional exception of bored sibling or parent, but all in all the atmosphere was one filled with expectation. Everyone was either yelling in excitement or standing silently in anticipation. Finally it was my turn, I went up and got my book ( The Lighting Thief ) signed and I got to shake all of their hands!

It all seemed to be over in a second but it was one of the best seconds of my life! Their personalities were really different from what I expected. Logan was very shy, Alexandria was sweet and outgoing ( she also complemented me on my necklace), and Brandon was by far the most outgoing of the three. To sum everything up it was incredible, I couldn't believe that it actually happened to me.
